Behind every successful person there is a lady. Smt. M. Savithri Devi provided rock like support for all the endeavors of Dr. M. Channa Reddy in their 60 years of married life.
Born on January 4th, 1925, Savithramma lost her parents when she was very young. As she went through a sad phase in life, her teacher told her that Lord Krishna would always be by her. She developed an affection, trust and refuge in Lord Krishna (baby Krishna) which she maintained throughout her life. She named her eldest son Krishna and even her eldest grandson, Krishna. Mr. Krishna was a very loving and affectionate child and very helpful to both his parents and siblings. He made sure that his mother, Smt. Savithri Devi finished her college because he thought she had to discontinue her education early, after he was born. In fact he used to drive her to college with him.
She was known as “Green Hands” she took care of the family farm in their village travelling there every day. She always took great interest in gardening around the house whether it was vegetables or fruits or flowers with a lot of interest in roses.
She was a very religions person who along with her husband Dr. M Channa Reddy garu actively participated in pujas & religious events and visited pilgrim sites across the length and breadth of India. She was very attached with Ananda Mai and took Sri Satya Sai Baba whom she worshiped for more than 30 years as her father. This bond provided her support when Doctor garu passed away in 1996.
Smt. Savithri Devi passed away on July 25th, 2000. Her Samadhi is at Amberpet alongside that of her eldest son Krishna.
